Gamers8 reveals $1m CS:GO prize pool

This year's Gamers8 Festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has announced a CS:GO tournament with a $1 million prize pool.


The prize money forms part of the event's overall $45 million esports tournament pot, with more games to be revealed over the coming weeks.


The tournament runs from August 14-20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of Gamers8, a gaming and esports festival taking place over eight weeks that is now in its second edition. .


CS:GO becomes the second esports title revealed at the festival, following the announcement that Valve's Dota 2 will have a $15 million tournament featuring 20 teams at the event.


The CS:GO tournament will feature 12 teams, with qualifications taking place at Gamers Without Borders, the world's largest charity esports event, which takes place at the end of May.


The Open Qualifiers will see NA teams compete on May 16 and 17 and EU teams compete on May 17 and 18.


There will also be a separate Last Chance EU Qualifier on July 11-12 to allow teams in Europe to compete for a final spot.
